This is definitely a very important article. Mouse owners need to make sure that their mice are getting great care, which includes a healthy meal. What I do is feed my girls 1/2 a cup of their food every other day. Before you ask, no, I don't over-feed my mice. The reason is, it ensures that they are eating everything. What my girls usually do is eat all the good stuff from their mix, and then go back to their food the second day and eat all the other stuff. My local breeder has told me to feed a 1/4 of a cup per two mice. Since I have four, I feed them 1/2 cup of food, every other day. Mice won't eat everything you give them the first day, because they are naturally prey. They hide half of their food, then go find it the second day. It's pretty smart on their part. What I feed them is; Vitakraft- Vita Prima Sunscriptions- Rat, Mouse and Gerbil Food. This is the seed mix. The lab blocks I give them is; Native Earth 4018 Rodent diet. Every once and a while, I'll mix in some Mazuri Mouse and Rat food pellets. I'm trying to wean them into the Mazuri pellets right now. An adult mouse will eat about 1 or 2 average sized pellets a day, younger mice will eat more. That's why I include about 7 or 8 pellets in the seed mix when I feed them. Some times instead of more pellets, I out in some whole wheat bread (chopped up into cubes) in their cage. When I do that, I feed them 1/2 cup of seed mix, 5 or 6 pellets, and 2 or 3 bread pieces. The fresh bread works fine with them, and it lasts too. Be careful what you feed your mice. Mice can't have peanuts or peanut butter because it's too thick. They can choke on it. So, before you try a new food, find out if it's ok for your furry little friend. Also, mice can get diarrhea if you drastically change their food. If you are going to be changing their food, slowly mix a little in every time you feed them. Keep these things in mind when you are feeding your little friends! Written by: Greek Girls Pet Mouse Care
